Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter ended their relationship, just one year after their intimate Indonesian wedding.

The pair’s reps Scott Newman and Lindsay Maguire said, “Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter have decided to amicably separate. They love and respect one another, and know that this is the best decision for their relationship moving forward. Brody and Kaitlynn have had issues for years. It is no secret amongst those who knew them. And the show was not good for them.”

The Hills: New Beginnings couple Brody, 35, and Carter, 30 were not legally married as they never followed up to get a marriage license and they never had a legal union.

The source continued, “It got so bad that Kaitlynn had actually moved out before they started filming, but then moved back in. Doing The Hills magnified a lot of things in their marriage. And it became clear that it wasn’t going to work. They both knew it.” 

The tension was seen in an episode of The Hills: New Beginnings.  On the show, following a lap dance at a club, Kaitlynn Carter confronted Brody Jenner about the status of their marriage, “You said to her last night that we had an open relationship.” Jenner visibly annoyed replied, “We’re not talking about this anymore.”

According to PEOPLE, another source explained that Carter’s desire to have kids played a major part in their shocking split. The source added, “They butted heads over that constantly. Kaitlynn really wants to be a mom and never swayed from that. She thought Brody changed his mind, but he didn’t.”

Indonesian Wedding

They had met at a party way back in 2013 and had an immediate connection. After years of dating Jenner had proposed to her during a romantic getaway on Sumba island, off the coast of Indonesia, in 2016.

Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter had a wedding in June 2018. The ceremony was held at Nihi Sumba resort on Sumba island, where he had proposed and tied the knot in front of 50 family members and friends.

However, not all family members attended the wedding. Jenner’s father Caitlyn Jenner did not show up. In an episode of The Hills: New Beginnings, he talked on the matter to Carter, his brother Brandon Jenner and their mom Linda Thompson over dinner. 

He shared, “Not having my dad at the wedding, it was a bummer. Honestly, it really did hurt and I would have loved to have had her there. But she had better things to do. Apparently.” 

It seems Brody Jenner has already moved on from the recent break-up. He was pictured partying with friends on Thursday night, without his wedding ring!
