Cara Delevingne has finally gotten sober.

In the 2023 interview with Vogue, the British model opened up about her decision to check herself into treatment. She made the life-changing decision for her substance abuse issues after she saw the worrying paparazzi pictures of herself and realized that she was in a bad place in her life and needed help.

She said, “At that point, there was a lot of people who were very worried, understandably so. but I wasn’t really worried, though … but that is the nature of the disease. That is what addiction is.”

The 30-year-old underwent a long-term treatment, a 12-step program, instead of “week retreat” which would be only “a quick fix” that she would not “fully do.”

The Ghost Town actress revealed, “All I knew is if I was continuing to go down the road I was, I would either end up dead or, like, doing something really, really stupid. That was scary. … Treatment was the best thing. It was always something I was very scared of, but I think I needed that community. I needed that support group.”

Delevingne also shared that with her girlfriend singer Leah “Minke” Mason, she now celebrated her first sober Christmas and New Year’s Eve in December 2022.

“Your life can change, if you give yourself a chance to really be who you are and sit in that uncomfortability, because my God, it’s uncomfortable! But it gets better—and it’s worth it,” she added.

The Suicide Squad star added, “I’m enjoying [sobriety]. It’s one of my favorite things to, like, go out and dance and have a good time but actually have, like, deep conversations and connections with people.”

Cara Delevingne, who is enjoying her healing process, continued, “I got hired a lot to talk about and advocate for things like mental health for people that are struggling, but wow, when I’m struggling myself, that’s not okay—bye. That’s the business, and it’s sad to see.”
