Jurassic Park star Sam Neill has been secretly battling stage 3 blood cancer since last year.

The 75-year-old actor shared his harrowing diagnosis in this forthcoming memoir Did I Ever Tell You This?. He explained that in March 2022, he first noticed swollen glands while promoting the films Jurassic World Dominion.

Neill was eventually diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma.

“The thing is, I’m crook. Possibly dying. I may have to speed this up,” the actor writes in the first chapter of his memoir.

The actor also revealed that he is now cancer-free but will be receiving monthly treatments of a new chemotherapy drug for the rest of his life.

During an interview with The Guardian, he shared, “I can’t pretend that the last year hasn’t had its dark moments. But those dark moments throw the light into sharp relief, you know, and have made me grateful for every day and immensely grateful for all my friends.”

He also added that he is “just pleased to be alive” and while undergoing treatment, he had nothing to do as he’s so “used to working” and “being with people every day.”

“And suddenly, I was deprived of that. And I thought, ‘What am I going to do?',” he said.

The project did provide him with a sense of purpose.

“As I went on and kept writing, I realized it was actually sort of giving me a reason to live, and I would go to bed thinking, ‘I’ll write about that tomorrow … that will entertain me,'” Neill revealed.

“And so it was a lifesaver, really, because I couldn’t have gone through that with nothing to do, you know?,” he continued.
