Lauren Scruggs and Jason Kennedy are expecting a second child together – adding that the news came as a “major surprise.”

The married couple took to Instagram to share the exciting news with their followers.

Scruggs, 34, and Kennedy, 41, are also parents to their son Ryver, who was born in April 2022.

Although the pregnancy is a surprise, it was much appreciated after years of fertility struggles.

The soon-to-be mom wrote on Instagram, “This was a major surprise and the sweetest plot twist — I cannot wait to watch little Ryver be a big brother.”

The said post also featured a video montage where Kennedy holds up a positive pregnancy test while telling his toddler, “Peek a boo! You’re gonna be a big brother.”

The former E! News host and his wife married in December 2014. After five years of trying to get pregnant, they announced their first pregnancy in September 2021 with in vitro fertilization (IVF).

Kennedy told People at the time, “It’s always tough when a doctor tells you you can’t have kids naturally and you keep running into complications, but we didn’t sit and wallow in that. We were really blessed to meet with some amazing doctors and specialists.”

They eventually decided to share their IVF journey via social media.

Kennedy told the news outlet, “We quickly realized that posting about our story welcomed us into a community of people going through the same thing. We were deeply moved by the love and support of so many people that were rooting us on in our fertility journey.”

Granted that the couple had original plans of home birth, it was quickly scrapped due to the tough 23-hour labor that required a vacuum extraction during delivery which also lead to a fourth-degree vaginal tear in April 2022.
