‘Selling Sunset’ alum Mary Fitzgerald undergoes uterine surgery following septic miscarriage
Selling Sunset star Mary Fitzgerald has updated on her fertility journey since sharing that she suffered a septic miscarriage in March.
At a meeting with Us Weekly, the reality star said, “I have had an MRI scan, a full body scan and I have to have surgery on my uterus. It’s gonna be an interesting process. It’s not going to be as easy as we thought it would.”
Mary Fitzgerald, 43, and husband Romain Bonnet, 30, told the outlet while celebrating their Bella Magazine cover on Tuesday, April 9.
Despite the “complicated” situation, the Netflix star is “OK” with her fertility issues while trying to conceive a child together.
Fitzgerald confessed, “I’ve had plenty of time to process and, in the beginning, it wasn’t easy. I think that I’ve really taken a stance, and it’s become a passion of mine to raise awareness for women’s issues.”
“I think it’s so common now. So, I’m being very forward on that front. But when it comes to myself, there’s not a lot I can do about it. Whatever happens, happens but in the meantime, I’m going to try to help other women,” she added.
TV personality Bonnet said that a child would be “great” but he does not want to “put any pressure” on his wife.
“Obviously, she has to take care of herself and then make sure that everything is good. I don’t want to put any pressure. Obviously, if it happens, that would be great. … We’re gonna see how it goes,” he said.
In March 2023, the celebrity realtor revealed that she had gotten pregnant while on their honeymoon to Bali – after getting secretly married in a court wedding in March 2018 – but it ended in miscarriage.
She wrote at the time, “We did get pregnant and unfortunately that didn’t work out.”
“On top of the miscarriage, I also had a septic miscarriage. So, had to go in for surgery for that,” Fitzgerald revealed at the time.
She continued, “I guess the only reason why I’ve been silent for a long time — and the reason why I’m speaking out now — is because I do realize how common this is and how many people go through this.”
“I’ve already been open and, you know, it doesn’t change who I am,” Fitzgerald added. “Although it feels like that as a woman, it doesn’t really change your worth.”
Mary Fitzgerald is already a mother to son Austin Babbitt, 28, from a previous relationship. She had welcomed her son when she was 15 years old.
