In the almost 14-minute YouTube video on Vlogbrothers titled So, I’ve got Cancer.

“So, I noticed that my lymph nodes were big. I talked to my doctor, she said it was probably nothing, we’ll send you in for an ultrasound. Got an ultrasound. The tech in the ultrasound room was like, “I’m gonna go get a doctor.”

He continued, “That’s not what you want to have happen,” adding that the doctors had “suspicions for lymphoma” and took him “in for a biopsy.”

Green went on to explain his diagnosis, “One it’s cancer, its called lymphoma. It’s a cancer of the lymphatic system. And good news is it’s something called Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It’s the most treatable – like one of the most treatable cancers. It responds very well to treatment. The goal is the cure. The procedure to get there is fairly well known if unpleasant.”

The vlogger, who has a son named Orin with his wife Katherine Green, also shared his plans to undergo four months of chemotherapy. The couple have been married since 2006.

“It’s, like, an identity that I’m having thrust upon me, which happens to people all the time. And it’s totally the thing that I will get over,” he concluded.

His brother John Green, also a vlogger and author of Fault in Our Stars, commented on the video, “I love you. We all love you. You’ve got this.”
