Ray Romano’s birth took place on December 21, 1957, in Queens, New York, USA. He was born Raymond Albert Romano to his mother, Lucie Romano, a piano teacher, and his father, Albert Romano, an engineer and real estate agent.
He is not the only child of his parents and has two siblings- older brother Richard Romano (born in 1956), a sergeant with the NYPD, and Robert Romano, a second-grade teacher in NYC. Actor Larry Romano is not a relative of his, although they share the same name.

For education, Ray Romano attended Hillcrest High School and, after graduation in 1975, went on to study at City University of New York, Queens College. He graduated from the same university with a degree in accounting.

Ray Romano married his longtime girlfriend on 11 October 1987. He had met his wife Anna Romano (née Scarpulla) when both worked at the Williamsburg Savings Bank in 1982. He had asked the other two workers on a date before he asked Anna, who was the only one who said yes.
The couple has four children together- daughter Alexandra Romano (born 1990), twin sons Matthew "Matt" Romano and Gregory Romano (born 1993), and youngest son Joseph Raymond Romano (born February 16, 1998).

Early Career
After completing his college education, Romano worked for a short while as an accountant. Only in 1989 did he start his career as a stand-up comedian. That year, he competed in the Johnnie Walker Comedy Search, and in the following years competed in Star Search.
After appearances on Comedy Central, Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist, and The Late Show with David Letterman, Romano became the star of his own show, Everybody Loves Raymond, in 1996.
