Who is Evelyn Lozada?

Evelyn Lozada is a reality TV star, model by profession, and American by nationality. She is best known as the cast member of the VH1 reality series Basketball Wives, Livin' Lozada, the ex-wife of Chad Johnson and former partner of Antoine Walker and later Carl Crawford.

Evelyn Lozada’s birth took place on December 10, 1975, in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA. She was born as Evelyn Alexandra Lozada to her mother Sylvia Ferrer and her father Nengo Lozada. 

She is not the only child of her parents and has a sibling- an older sister Sylvia Lozada, with whom she was raised in the Bronx by their mother.

Lozada began a relationship with NBA star Antoine Walker in 1998. During their time together, they were even engaged to be married but did not walk down the aisle. Instead, after 10 years of a relationship, the couple broke up.

Evelyn Lozada went on to date footballer Chad Johnson in early 2010. She and her boyfriend were engaged on November 16, 2010. They married in Saint Martin on July 4, 2012. But just two months after marriage, Lozada filed for divorce from her husband on August 14, 2012, while claiming that her marriage was “irretrievably broken”. Their divorce was finalized on September 19, 2012.

She found love in Carl Crawford next. The couple began dating in 2013 and in December 2013, the couple was engaged. Their son Carl Leo Crawford was born on March 22, 2014. The couple announced their pregnancy on July 12, 2015, but just 4 days later, she suffered a miscarriage. They too called off their engagement.

Lozada also has a daughter from her previous boyfriend. At the age of 17, Evelyn Lozada gave birth to her daughter Shaniece Hairston (born June 16, 1993). But the details of Hairston’s father, whom she dated from 1989 to 1995 are not known.

Before Fame

Before Evelyn Lozada was famous, she worked as a secretary to an entertainment attorney. Later she co-owned a shoe boutique, Dulce.

Reality TV star

Lozada was cast in the reality TV series Basketball Wives from 2010 to 2012. The show follows the wives, ex-wives, and girlfriends of professional basketball players. She returned to the series in 2017 during season six of the series.

She and Antoine Walker were to star in Ev and Ocho, a spin-off series of Basketball Wives that follows the life of the two. But the series never aired. She currently stars on Livin' Lozada, alongside her grown-up daughter Shaniece Hairston. The show was canceled after the second season as Lozada had to return on season six of Basketball Wives.

Lozada also has had an appearance in Iyanla: Fix My Life.

In December 2012, Lozada posed for PETA's I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur campaign.

Evelyn Lozada – Domestic Violence

On August 11, 2012, Lozada’s then-husband Chad Johnson was arrested on a charge of domestic battery. On September 21, 2012, Johnson entered a plea of no contest to misdemeanor domestic battery. The jail time was avoided in an agreement with victim Evelyn Lozada and prosecutors but received a year of probation. This eventually led to their divorce.
