Gloria Govan’s birth took place on 22  February 1985 in Oakland, California, USA. She is not the only child of her parents and has two siblings- younger sister Laura Govan and brother Lonnie Govan. Her mother is Gloria Govan and her father is Michael Govan.

Gloria Govan started a relationship with NBA player Matt Barnes. They had first met while they were in the eighth grade but did not begin dating until 2006 when their paths crossed again. 

After dating for more than 5 years, she and her longtime boyfriend married on 11 August 2013. With her husband, she welcomed twin boys Carter Kelly Barnes and Isaiah Michael Barnes on November 6, 2008.

They had separated for 6 weeks, just 14 months after their wedding only to reconcile. But the couple could not stay together for long and they finalized their divorce on 21 December 2016 with custody granted to both parents.

She dated rapper Game in 2011. Gloria Govan is currently engaged to fiancé Derek Fisher and began their dating in 2015. They married on July 17, 2021.

Early Days

Govan rose to fame after getting into a relationship with NBA player Matt Barnes. In 2010 she starred in the VH1 reality show Basketball Wives, continuing until its cancellation in 2013. Gloria Govan then was cast in its spinoff series Basketball Wives LA.

She then departed from the reality show to focus on acting, hosting, and content development. As a host, she hosted Trump Awards red carpet, Backstage Confidential and as an actress, Gloria Govan starred in Family Time, Chocolate City, and also produced Meet the Blacks.

Gloria Govan also has a production company Tabula Rasa where she works tirelessly while also focusing on philanthropic works. Moreover, she has published a cookbook titled A Mixed Girl’s Favorite Recipes and worked as a broker between UFC and Fox Television.

Govan has been embroiled in several controversies. She was arrested in August 2018 for felony child endangerment after a dangerous fight with her ex-husband. She was later released after posting $100,000 bail. In June 2019  Matt Barnes sued Gloria Govan, her parents, and her brothers for fraud.
