Early Days

Although Holden-Ried wanted to pursue a career as an actor soon after high school, he did not do so until 1994. He joined a small agency in Montreal that year. His debut screen role was in the 1995 TV movie Young Ivanhoe. This was followed by minor roles in the films Rowing Through (1996), Going to Kansas City (1998), Gossip (2000), Touch of Pink (2004), Niagara Motel (2005), A Stone's Throw (2006), etc and in the episodes of the TV series Twice in a Lifetime (1999), Paradise Falls (2001), Street Time (2003), Degrassi: The Next Generation (2001-2004), to name a few.

In 2007, Kris Holden-Ried was cast as the recurring character William Compton in the TV series The Tudors. He appeared in a total of 7 episodes of the series which gained him enough traction to land roles in major projects.
