Who is Lauren Alaina?

Lauren Alaina is a singer, songwriter, actress by profession, and American by nationality. She was the runner-up in season 10 of American Idol and has gone on to release numerous studio albums and singles.

Lauren Alaina’s birth took place on November 8, 1994, in Rossville, Georgia, USA. She was born as Lauren Alaina Kristine Suddeth to mother Kristy Suddeth and father J.J. Suddeth, a process technician. She is not the only child of her parents and has a sibling, a brother named Tyler Suddeth.

At age 8, the budding singer began to sing competitively and won the Southern Stars Pageant. In her teens, she traveled to Orlando, Florida to compete in the American Model and Talent Competition and in 2009 won the WinniSTAR youth talent contest. Alaina also performed at festivals and local bars.

For education, she attended Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School, where she was a cheerleader. Growing up, Lauren Alaina loved to sing. She began to sing at the age of 3 and sang in church, restaurants, and family holiday gatherings.

Lauren Alaina began dating Alexander Hopkins in 2012. After years of a romantic relationship, she got engaged to her high school boyfriend in July 2018. But after 6 years she announced in January 2019 that they had split.

Alaina went on to date comedian John Crist. But their brief affair lasted from May to September 2019. She has yet to marry, take a husband, and have children.

Early Career

She worked several odd jobs including as a CeCe's Pizza waitress while trying to make it as a single. Already an experienced singer, Lauren Alaina competed in season 10 of American Idol and finished as the runner-up of the year in 2011 while Scotty McCreery won the title. 

Soon after she was signed to Interscope Records, Mercury Nashville, and 19 Recordings, and her single Like My Mother Does was released. The song went on to reach number 36 on Billboard Hot Country Songs and 20 on the Hot 100.

Career takes off

Lauren Alaina’s debut album Wildflower was released on October 2011 followed by the studio album Road Less Traveled in January 2017. She has also released compilation albums American Idol Season 10: Lauren Alaina (May 2011), Extended Plays American Idol Season 10 Highlights: Lauren Alaina (June 2011), and Lauren Alaina (October 2015).

Lauren Alaina has worked with fellow musicians Kane Brown, Meghan Trainor, Jesse Frasure, Cole Swindell, and Jason Aldean.

She partnered up with professional dancer Gleb Savchenko in season 28 of Dancing with the Stars.
