Matthew Koma is a singer, songwriter, DJ, and record producer by profession and American by nationality. He is better known for writing numerous hit songs including Zedd's Spectrum and Clarity, the latter one winning a Grammy Award.

Matthew Koma’s birth took place on June 2, 1987, in Seaford, New York, USA. He was born Matthew Bair to his mother Rhonda Bair and father Gerald Bair. He is not the only child of his parents and has a sibling, an older half-brother named Kris Mazzarisi.
His brother’s name has not been opened to the public. But it is known that Koma’s brother has a successful business selling drums and their establishment is named Big Fat Snare Drum.

Matthew Koma began dating singer, songwriter, actress, and Disney star Hilary Duff in January 2017. He and his girlfriend welcomed their daughter Banks Violet Bair on October 25, 2018.
On March 1, 2019, Koma proposed to her, the two are now engaged to be married and Duff will soon be his wife. The couple married on December 21, 2019. They welcomed their second child, daughter Mae James Bair, in March 2021.
This is the first marriage for Matthew Koma while Duff has had a husband. She previously married NHL player Mike Comrie on August 14, 2010, and divorced in February 2016, after separating in January 2014. She and Comrie have a son together named Luca Cruz Comrie who was born on March 20, 2012.

Before fame
Koma began his professional career in 2010. He started out his career in music in punk rock and later transitioned to many other genres ranging from pop, and hip hop to EDM.
He was first noticed after an acoustic performance by record producer Jimmy Iovine who signed him to Interscope Records. In May 2012, Matthew Koma released his first extended play (EP) titled Parachute. The EP had collaborations with music artists Alex da Kid, Sam Watters, Louis Biancaniello, and Ari Levine.

He released his second EP titled The Cherrytree Sessions on August 27, 2013.
Koma has also worked with LMFAO, Far East Movement in the Sorry For Party Rocking worldwide tour and with Owl City. Moreover, Matthew Koma has produced songs with Bruce Springsteen, Ron Aniello, DJ Hardwell, Shania Twain, etc.
In addition, he has many hit songwriting under his credit including Clarity by Zedd, This Kiss by Carly Rae Jepsen, and Someone by Kelly Clarkson, among others.
