Who is Nathalie Emmanuel?

Nathalie Emmanuel is an actress by profession and British by nationality. Among all her work, she is best known for portraying Missandei in Game of Thrones, Furious 7, The Fate of the Furious, and Maze Runner.

Nathalie Emmanuel’s birth took place on 2 March 1989 in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England. She was born Nathalie Joanne Emmanuel. Her mother, a social-care worker is of Dominican and English descent while her father is of Saint Lucian and English descent. 

She is not the only child of her parents and has an older sibling, a sister named Louise Emmanuel.

Emmanuel was educated at St Hilda's School and later enrolled at Westcliff High School for Girls. She later attended Masters Performing Arts College. Her ethnicity includes English, Dominican, and Saint-Lucian.

Nathalie Emmanuel was in a relationship with her Hollyoaks co-star and on-screen brother Sonny Valentine, played by actor Devon Anderson. They broke up before April 2017. In a 2017 interview with The Sun, she shared that dating is hard in the industry,

“It’s difficult to find people when you’re always moving around, or who aren’t intimidated by your achievements. It’s tough to find people who are super-secure and encourage you to fly.”

She is currently dating actor Alex Lanipekun and was pictured together in July 2018. The couple has not shared their marriage plans. Emmanuel is currently unmarried and sans husband, and children.

Nathalie Emmanuel – Career

Before fame

In an interview with New York Daily News Nathalie Emmanuel shared how her mother had set her on the right path from an early age, "When I was 3, [I'd] always cause drama that my mum decided maybe I should channel it properly—so she started me on acting, singing and dancing classes."

At the age of 10, she landed the role of young Nala in West End’s musical The Lion King and started out her professional career in a Vodafone commercial.

Following a gap of around 7 years, she resumed her acting career. In 2006, she landed her major role as Sasha Valentine in the series Hollyoaks. She played the character until 2010.

After the series ended, she did land minor roles in the TV series Casualty (2011), Misfits (2011), and the film Twenty8k (2012). Only in 2013, did Nathalie Emmanuel land the breakthrough role of Missandei in Game of Thrones, while working in a clothes store as a shop assistant. She will be portraying the character until the final season.

Worked in

Since then, Emmanuel has landed roles in the series Four Weddings and a Funeral (2019) and lent her voice in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (2019). 

Moreover, the actress has portrayed supporting characters in Furious 7 (2015), Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015), The Fate of the Furious (2017), Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018), The Titan (2018).

In addition to acting, Nathalie Emmanuel has appeared in the April 2015 issue of InStyle and GQ magazines. She has been ranked 99th in 100 Sexiest Women of 2013, and 75th in Sexiest Women of 2015 by FHM magazine.
