Richard Dormer is an actor, playwright, and screenwriter by profession a Northern Irish by nationality. He is best known for his role as Beric Dondarrion in HBO’s Game of Thrones and as Dan Anderssen in Fortitude.

For education, he attended the RADA School of acting in London. But he left the college early after landing a role in Billy Budd and returned to his home country Northern Ireland. His ethnicity is Irish.

Dormer has been active in acting since 1991. He had minor roles in the series Casualty (1991), Soldier Soldier (1992), The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles (1993), and in the films A Further Gesture (2000), The Escapist (2002), and Puckoon (2002).

In 2003, Richard Dormer was the case in Hurricane as Alex Higgins which gained him much recognition.

In terms of TV series, he has starred in My Boy Jack (2007), Last Man Hanging (2008), Hidden (2011), the lead role of Sheriff Dan Anderssen in Fortitude (2015-2018), The Musketeers (2016), Rellik (2017), and as Lord Beric Dondarrion in Game of Thrones (2013, 2016- present).

Dormer has also been active in theatre, having played in Measure for Measure, Miss Julie, and Waiting for Godot, among others.
