Who is Tionne Watkins?

Tionne Watkins, also known as T-Boz, is a singer, songwriter, actress, author, and executive producer by profession, and American by nationality. She is best known as a member of the girl group TLC alongside Rozonda Thomas and Lisa Lopes.

Tionne Watkins’ birth took place on April 26, 1970, in Des Moines, Iowa, USA. She was born Tionne Tenese Watkins to her father James Watkins and her mother Gayle Watkins. Both of her parents were musicians/singers and sang in a group together. She has a sibling, but the name of her brother is not known to the public.

They divorced when she was 3 years old. When Tionne Watkins was nine years old the family moved from Des Moines to Atlanta, Georgia. Other facts about her early life including her siblings and education will soon be updated.

Tionne Watkins married her longtime boyfriend Mack 10, a rapper on August 19, 2000. She and her husband welcomed daughter Chase Anela Rolison on October 20, 2000, a few months premature.

But just around 4 years later, in 2004, she filed for divorce and requested a restraining order against Mack 10. Their divorce was finalized on 12 November 2004.

In June 2016 she announced that she adopted a 10-month-old baby boy, Chance (born in March 2016). 

She has also dated Dalvin DeGrate (1990 – 1994), Jay Z (1995 – 1998), and Takeo Spikes (2005 – 2010). She is currently single.

With TLC

To form a singing group, Crystal Jones held auditions where she chose Tionne Watkins and Lisa Lopes. The group’s performance gained the attention of Perri "Pebbles" Reid and Antonio "L.A." Reid, head of LaFace Records.

After Jones was replaced by Rozonda Thomas as Chilli, they signed in 1991. As TLC, Tionne Watkins released five albums - Ooooooohhh... On the TLC Tip (1992), CrazySexyCool (1994), FanMail (1999), 3D (2002), and TLC (2017).

Solo, Acting

Tionne Watkins has also pursued a solo career. She has released singles Touch Myself, My Getaway (2000), Champion (2013), and Dreams (2017: from audiobook A Sick Life).

As an actress, Watkins has starred in the film Belly and has appearances in Living Single, The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Days of Our Lives, Black Dynamite, and Lip Sync Battle. 

She was cast in the reality TV show Totally T-Boz, which premiered on January 1, 2013. The series which aired only for four episodes contained Watkins’ quest to create a solo album, reunite with Chilli, and her life with her daughter Chase.

Tionne Watkins has also worked as a producer of the films CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story, ATL (2006) and published the semi-autobiographical poetry book Thoughts on November 3, 1999. With stylist Tara Brivic, she opened Chase's Closet, a children's boutique, and ran it for several years.

Tionne Watkins – Health Issues

She was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia at a young age and has been receiving treatment for it from time to time. 

In October 2009 she revealed that for the past three years, she has been battling a potentially fatal brain tumor. In March 2006 she had been diagnosed with a grape-sized acoustic neuroma on her vestibular nerve. It affected her balance, weight, hearing, sight, and facial movement, and ultimately underwent surgery.
