Early Days

Ballatore grew up loving music. He pursued a career as a musician while he spent time between gigs learning how to build houses. This eventually led him to design restaurants and clubs in Manhattan. 

He has worked in architectural design as a set designer for celebrity photographers in Los Angeles, including Annie Leibovitz and David LaChapelle, Torkil Gudnason, Robert Trachtenberg, and Deborah Anderson.

On TV

Antonio Ballatore rose to fame after he competed in season four of HGTV Design Star (2009). He won the competition. He was the host of HGTV’s new show The Antonio Project. The series ran for three seasons- from January 2010 to February 2011. He also combined his building skills, interior design, and love of animals in the Animal Planet series Animal Cribs in 2017.

LA Weekly named Ballatore "the Lady Gaga of interior design.” Currently, he runs his own line, Born With a Tail- apparel for humans and their pets, including dog and cat accessories, kitchenware, etc.
