Who is Gaten Matarazzo?

Gaten Matarazzo is an actor, singer by profession, and American by nationality. He is well known for starring as Benjamin in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Gavroche in Les Miserables, Dustin Henderson in Stranger Things, and is a member of the Work In Progress band.

Gaten Matarazzo was born as Gaten John Matarazzo III to mother Heather Matarazzo and father Gaten Matarazzo Sr. His birth took place on September 8, 2002, in Little Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, USA. 

He is not the only child of his parents and has two siblings – older sister Sabrina Matarazzo and younger brother Carmen Matarazzo. Gaten Matarazzo has cleidocranial dysplasia (CCD) and uses dentures as a result of his condition.

Currently, he is a student at Pinelands Regional High School. His ethnicity includes Italian, English, Finnish, and Scottish.

He is currently in a relationship with his girlfriend Lizzy Yu and has been dating since 2018. The couple went to prom together in 2019, which they shared on social media.

Early Days

Gaten Matarazzo began acting at a young age, first in theaters. He portrayed the role of Benjamin in the theater production of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (2011), and Gavroche in Les Misérables (2014).

In 2015 Gaten Matarazzo landed the role of Finn in The Blacklist (2015) followed by appearances in Ridiculousness (2017), and Lip Sync Battle (2017). But most of all he is known for starring in Stranger Things (2016-present) as Dustin Henderson.

Moreover, he has appeared in Katy Perry’s music video for Swish Swish. He is also a member of a six-piece New Jersey band called Work In Progress and tours with his band.
