Early Days
Powell made his major on-screen debut in 2003 with the movie Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over as Long-Fingered Boy, working alongside Antonio Banderas and Sylvester Stallone.
This was followed by a series of minor roles in films The Wendell Baker Story (2005), Fast Food Nation (2006), and in an episode of the TV series Jack & Bobby (2004), Into the West (2005).
Finally, in 2007, he landed a role in The Great Debaters as Preston Whittington, which is considered his breakthrough role.
