Kristen Wiig’s birth took place on August 22, 1973, in Canandaigua, New York, U.S.A. Her birth name/full name is Kristen Carroll Wiig. Her father Jon Wiig ran a lake marina in Western New York while her mother Laurie Johnston worked as an artist. She has an older brother named Eric Wigg.

When Kristen Wiig was three years old, the family moved to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. There she attended Nitrauer Elementary School and Manheim Township Middle School. The family again moved to Rochester, New York when Wiig was 13 years old where she enrolled at Allendale Columbia School. After completing ninth and tenth grades, she changed schools, graduating from Brighton High School.
For further education, Wiig attended Roanoke College but soon dropped out, moving to Rochester. Back in Rochester, she joined community college. Finally, Wiig attended the University of Arizona with a major in art.

Kristen Wiig dated actor Hayes Hargrove and got married to him in 2005. But in 2009, she divorced her husband of 4 years.
After the divorce, she dated Brian Petsos for two years, from 2009 to 2011.
Since then she had been in a relationship with Fabrizio Moretti, drummer of the rock band Strokes. They were together from December 2011 until breaking up in July 2013. In 2014, she had an affair with Scott Speedman, and her boyfriend, Avi Rothman, in 2016.
Currently, she is engaged to her longtime boyfriend Avi Rothman. The pair had gotten engaged in mid-2019. In June 2020, the couple welcomed twins - son Shiloh Rothman and daughter Luna Rothman. She confirmed in February 2021 that Rothman is her husband, confirming they were now married.

Kristen Wiig – Career
Life before fame
While at college, she did not interest in acting and only took it as a course requirement. But seeing that she had potential in acting, her teacher suggested taking up acting. A day before she was to begin her job at a plastic surgery clinic, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting.
In Los Angeles, she did odd jobs to get through. In 2003, she landed the role of Dr. Pat in The Joe Schmo Show. With encouragement from her manager, Wiig submitted an audition tape to Saturday Night Live. Luckily, she was selected to be a member of SNL for the 2006’s season 32. On SNL she played different characters such as Target Lady and “Tiny Hands” famous for hilarious gifs.
After working in films and series like The Looney Tunes Show, Knocked Up, Walk Hard, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Adventureland, Despicable Me, How to Train Your Dragon, etc, she finally got her big break.

Films, Series
Along with Annie Mumolo, she wrote the 2011 comedy Bridesmaids, which was made into a film in 2011. The movie made US$167 million in North America and US$280 million worldwide.
The same year, the duo worked together to create the romantic comedy Friends with Kids. It received positive reviews and was a limited success. Among other movies, Kristen Wiig has portrayed roles in The Skeleton Twins, Zoolander 2, Welcome to Me, Ghostbusters, and The Spoils Before Dying, among others.
Since 2017, Kristen Wiig has starred in Downsizing alongside Matt Damon and lent her voice for Despicable Me 3. Wiig has been cast as the Cheetah in the 2020 movie Wonder Woman 1984.
