Jacobson’s debut screen role was in an episode of the TV series NYPD Blue in 1993. This was followed by appearances in the TV series Talk to Me (2000), A.U.S.A. (2003), Law & Order (2003-2006), Method and Red (2004), The Lost Room (2006), The Starter Wife (2007), etc.
Finally, in 2007 Peter Jacobson was cast as Dr. Chris Taub in the medical drama series House. He appeared in 96 episodes of the series, until 2012, and this is his breakthrough role.

Since then Jacobson has portrayed characters in TV series Ray Donovan (2013-2015), Colony (2016-2018), The Americans (2016-2017), and Fear The Walking Dead (2019-present), to name a few.
