Sarunas J. Jackson is an actor, writer by profession, and American by nationality. He is best known for his role in the HBO series Insecure as Alejandro “Dro” Peña. He is a former professional basketball player.

Sarunas J. Jackson’s birth took place on 12 March 1990 in Inland Empire, California, USA. He is also known as Sarunas Jackson and was raised in Los Angeles. His mother is of Panamanian, Jamaican, and Native American descent while his father is of African-American and German descent.

He is not the only child of his parents and has a younger brother named Darius D. Jackson. He was raised by his mother and stepfather Romel P. Jackson with his step-brother Marques A. Jackson.

Early Days

Jackson began his career in acting not so long ago. He first started with commercials, namely Jordan shoes. And in 2012, he made a decision to shift from basketball to acting. In debut film was Draft Day, which was released back in 2014.

Before he was an actor, he was a professional basketball player. His love for basketball and games had begun when he was still a kid. 

After his college days, he traveled to several Asian countries and cities including Tokyo, Taipei, Taiwan, and Hong Kong to play international basketball. He played there for a total of three years.

Sarunas J. Jackson had also played for an AAU team against NBA All-Star Paul George and had even applied for the 2013 NBA draft.

Since stepping into the acting field, he has had minor appearances in shows like Transparent, Major Crimes, Chi-Raq, The 5th Food Dream, Covert, Games People Play (2019), Good Trouble (2019), etc. But most of all, Sarunas J. Jackson is known for his role in the HBO series Insecure as Alejandro “Dro” Peña.
