Uma Thurman is an actress, model by profession, and American by nationality. She is best known for her work in Pulp Fiction, Batman & Robin, Les Misérables, Hysterical Blindness, and Imposters.

Uma Thurman’s birth took place on April 29, 1970, in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. She was born as Uma Karuna Thurman to parents Robert Alexander Farrar Thurman, a professor of Indo-Tibetan Buddhist Studies, and Nena von Schlebrügge, a high-fashion model.
She also has three brothers Ganden Thurman (born 1967), Dechen Karl Thurman (born 1973), and Mipam Thurman (born 1978). From her father’s previous marriage, she has a half-sister named Taya Thurman, born in 1961.
Growing up, Uma Thurman is described as an awkward and introverted girl who was bullied for her appearance.

She met English actor Gary Oldman on the set of State of Grace before they married on 1 October 1990 and divorced her husband on 30 April 1992 after a two-year marriage.
She then went on to date Ethan Hawke after meeting him in 1997, on the set of Gattaca. She married her boyfriend on May 1, 1998.
Together they have welcomed two children together. Their daughter Maya Ray Thurman Hawke was born on July 8, 1998, and their son Levon Roan Thurman Hawke was born on January 15, 2002. This relationship of hers also crumbled and their divorce was finalized in August 2005.
In 2007, Uma Thurman moved on and began a romantic relationship with London-based French financier Arpad Busson. By June 2008, the two were engaged but soon called off their engagement in later 2009. The couple did however reconcile but again broke up in April 2014 after a long engagement.

Before fame
Young Thurman began her career as a fashion model at the age of 15 and signed with Click Models. She did gain much success in the field, having posed for the cover of Glamour (Dec 1985) and British Vogue (May 1996).
She eventually made her switch to acting, a passion she had had since she was in the eighth grade. Her debut role was in 1987 with the film Kiss Daddy Goodnight. And in the next year, she landed roles in three separate films Johnny Be Good, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, and Dangerous Liaisons.
Finally, in 1994, she landed the role of Mia Wallace in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction. For the role, she has been nominated a Golden Globe and the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

A few weeks later, she joined the "Me Too" movement via Instagram. In an interview with The New York Times on February 3, 2018, she shared that when she was 16, she had been sexually assaulted by an actor 20 years her senior.
