Rapper Kodak Black thanks Trump for a presidential pardon

Rapper Kodak Black took to Twitter to thank former President Trump on Wednesday for giving him a presidential pardon. It ends his 46-month prison sentence for which he had been convicted on weapon possession charges.

“I Want To Thank The President @RealDonaldTrump For His Commitment To Justice Reform And Shortening My Sentence,’’ Black, whose real name is Bill K. Kapri, wrote on Twitter, “I Also Want To Thank Everyone For Their Support And Love. It Means More Than You Will Ever Know. I Want To Continue Giving Back, Learning, And Growing.”

Kodak Black reportedly pledged in November to donate $1 million to charity if he landed a pardon.

In 2019 the rapper admitted to lying on federal forms to buy four firearms from a Miami-area gun shop. His legal team eventually began lobbying Trump in the fall for a pardon citing that most people convicted of his crime only land 18 months behind bars.
