Kit Harington is an actor by profession and British by nationality. He is best known for portraying the character Jon Snow in the HBO television series Game of Thrones.

Kit Harington’s birth took place on 26 December 1986 in Acton, London, England. He was born Christopher Catesby Harington to mother Deborah Jane Catesby, a former playwright, and father Sir David Harington, 15th Baronet, a businessman.
His family lineage dates back to the 16th century and is related to Charles II of England and James I, king of Ireland and England, and Sir John Harington, the inventor of the flush toilet.
He is not the only child of his parents and has a sibling, a brother named John Catesby Harington. When Kit Harington was four years old he nearly drowned in a swimming pool and was "seconds from death".

For education, Kit Harington attended Southfield Primary School from 1992 to 1998. After his family moved to Worcestershire when he was 11, he attended Chantry High School until 2003. He then enrolled at Worcester Sixth Form College in 2003 and studied Drama and Theatre there until 2005.
At the age of 18, he joined the Central School of Speech and Drama in 2005 and graduated from the same in 2008. His ethnicity includes English, Scottish, Irish, Welsh, Dutch, Spanish, German, and French.

In 2012 Harington started an on-off relationship with his Game of Thrones co-star Rose Leslie, who portrays his on-screen lover Ygritte. They announced their engagement on 27 September 2017 and the couple tied the knot on 23 June 2018 at Rayne Parish Church in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
He and his wife welcomed a child, a baby boy in February 2021 but the private couple is yet to share the name of their son. They are living happily without any rumors of extra-marital affairs or divorce.

Before Fame
Kit Harington fell in love with acting at the age of 14. While still a student at Central School of Speech and Drama, he landed the role in War Horse (2008-2009) which went on to win two Olivier Awards and also gained Harington a great deal of recognition. He was then cast in the play Posh (2010), a dark ensemble comedy.
He used to work in a bookstore where he often would have to lift heavy copies of George RR Martin’s ''A Song Of Ice and Fire'' series.
Breakthrough role
In 2010, Kit Harington auditioned for the role of Jon Snow in the television series Game of Thrones and was selected to play the character. He portrayed the character until the series ended with season 8 in May 2019.
