Vanessa Merrell’s birth took place on August 6, 1996, in Kansas City, Missouri, USA, as Vanessa Jo Merrell. Her parents are Wendy Merrell, a school secretary, and Paul Merrell, a video producer. She has a sibling, a twin to be precise, who is now married to Aaron Burriss.

Her twin sister is named Veronica Jo Merrell. So, who is the older one? Vanessa Merrell is 45 minutes younger than her twin. While being born, Veronica came out easily, but the same was not the case with Vanessa. She had to be delivered via cesarean “c” section, thus the 45-minute age gap between the two.

Merrell was only 5 years old when she started to play piano and was in the 5^th grade when she started taking singing lessons. She also plays the violin.

As for education, Merrell Twins attended the same high school, although they have not shared its name. After graduating from high school, both were accepted into the same college but chose different majors. Vanessa Jo Merrell has chosen TV production as her major, while Veronica Jo Merrell has selected screenwriting as her major.

In the fall of 2018, they decided to take a break from classes, citing busy schedules, but have not shared if they are back in their studies.

Merrell was in a relationship with Aaron Van Wormer. The two had begun dating in 2015. She even encouraged her boyfriend to open his own YouTube channel, which he later did. But the couple soon broke up. Wormer began dating Courtney Oddo in 2017.

She went on to date artist John Vaughn and got engaged to him after her boyfriend proposed to her in September 2022. They married on January 27, 2023. She and her husband have yet to welcome any children. There has been no news of divorce surrounding the pair.

Early Career

Merrell began her career in entertainment at a fairly young age. From ages 8 to 12, she acted in numerous children's videos.

She even has titles of Best Top Model, Best Actor, and Grand Best Overall Child Top Model in the 2009 Models and Talent Competition.

The Merrell Twins first started their YouTube channel in 2009. They uploaded their first video, What It's Like to Be a Twin, and completely forgot about it! Fast forward two years, and they somehow remembered their YouTube channel and checked it. The channel had amassed 10,000 views, and the channel had 2,000 subscribers!

Highly encouraged, the Twins soon got to work. They made more and more videos while their father edited their videos.

At the age of 16, which was in 2013, the Merrell twins moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as actresses. They have been successful in landing minor TV and film roles.

Vanessa Jo Merrell portrayed the role of Valeria in a total of five episodes of Jane the Virgin from 2014 to 2016, along with her twin sister. They also starred together in Faking It (2015), The Standoff (2016), and Hyperlinked (2017). They are also frequently featured on Awesomeness TV's YouTube channel.
